Each state sets fees Notaries may charge to perform notarial acts, in the state of California this is $15 PER signature. Additional fees like travel and expedited services may be added on.

Acknowledgment
The form most frequently used by the notary public is the certificate of acknowledgment. A notary acknowledgement ensures that the signer of the document is indeed the person named in the document. The function of the notary in this case is to verify the identity of the signer.

Apostille FAQ
What is an Apostille & what is the purpose? An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of a public official on a document for use in another country. The Apostille does not validate the contents of the document.
What is the fee for submitting an apostille request via in person? There is a $20.00 fee for each Apostille requested, plus an additional $6.00 special handling fee for each different public official’s signature to be authenticated.
Can the California Secretary of State issue and Apostille for a document in a language other than English? Yes. If the notarization of the document is in English, the California Secretary of State can issue an Apostille. The rest of the document can be in any other language.
Who can request an Apostille? Any individual can request an Apostille on behalf of themselves or on behalf of anyone else. Additionally, the requester does not need to be related to any person(s) named in the document.
Apostille
An apostille is a stamp or certification placed on a public document to verify the authenticity of the signature, seal, and stamp of the person who issued the document. It essentially makes a document recognized as valid in another country that is a party to the Hague Convention, abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents.
